Learn some basketball science with Khan Academy

Want to know what Newton’s Third Law of Physics has to do with shooting a jumper? Let LeBron James and Khan Academy explain:

Pretty great stuff, right?

A second chance for Ben Gordon

There was a time when Ben Gordon struck fear into opponents’ hearts. He won Sixth Man of the Year in 2005. He was stellar in the 2009 Playoffs, averaging 24.3 points per game and 37.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc. In that crazy series, Gordon fed it with big shot after big shot for […]

Tobias Harris gets Ice Bucket Challenged

Some people choose to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads to raise awareness for ALS. Others get it dumped on them.

Tobias Harris is the latter. His brother interrupted a speech at Harris’ basketball camp to force Tobias Harris into the latest social media craze. Harris then challenged Andrew Nicholson to take the challenge.

They are part of a growing number of Magic players to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS. They might be annoying on your Facebook feeds, but the ALS Association has seen a 700 percent increase in donations over the same time period last year. Pretty incredible.

What is the future of Magic’s 2012 draftees?

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders estimates about 22 of the 60 players drafted each year since 2001 have what can be called careers in the NBA (getting the second contract and hanging around beyond their rookie deals). The 2011 draftees — like Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris — are starting to get their pay days. […]

Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris and restricted free agency

With the season slowly approaching (slowly, being the key word), there is really only one thing left for the Magic to do. Their young players are finally starting to grow up and reach free agency for the first time. More specifically, Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris are on the final years of their rookie contracts […]

Is Rich DeVos a winning owner?

This is a question Magic fans always seem like they need to be answering. Especially now that the Magic are at the bottom of the standings, there is wonder whether Rich DeVos will put what is necessary to get back to the top of the mountain and, eventually, win a championship. The one thing no […]

Nikola Vucevic continues rebounding mastery

Nikola Vucevic is a growing player. If it were not for a series of injuries that knocked him out of 25 games, who knows what kind of season we would be talking about from Vucevic. The second-year center is an extreme bright spot for the Magic. He is a capable offensive player with a solid […]

Original team maintains its bond

The 25th Anniversary season has come and gone pretty quickly. Maybe there were points when fans wanted it to go quicker with the way the 23-win season progressed. It certainly was not the 25th anniversary season the Magic envisioned when they probably began making plans for the Silver Anniversary Season. It is what it is. […]

About inbounding

It happened again and again. One instance in a home game against the Raptors on March 30 at Amway Center. The Magic were down three points and had a chance to tie the game. Make a play to give themselves a chance to win. And they dropped the ball. Not really. Orlando did not even […]

Elfrid Payton makes it easy

The Magic needed a point guard. So the logic has gone for some time now. As Jameer Nelson got older and it was clear the franchise was moving in a different direction, Orlando needed to find a replacement. Nelson was a great player for the Magic. He was always more scorer than distributor though. Not […]
