5 Orlando Magic players who improved the most

4. Cole Anthony

Cole Anthony continued his growth from the end of the last season into this year’s campaign.

Anthony’s volume has increased this season due to all of the injuries the Orlando Magic have played through. He has had to take on the role of leading scorer to mixed effect. Though Anthony has not always been efficient, he has displayed growth throughout his game.

Anthony increased his overall scoring from 12.9 points per game to 16.3 per game this season. He demonstrated his scoring abilities throughout November and December, scoring 20-plus points per game during that stretch, and displayed efficiency in different spots throughout the season, shooting better than 40-percent from three in October and again in February.

Anthony is known as a scorer and that is always going to be his first and primary focus. But it is the other areas of his game where Anthony has shown growth and will help him carve out his role as his career continues.

Anthony improved as a playmaker this season. While his assists went up from 4.1 to 5.7 per game, Cole Anthony had to manage the teams’ offense with Markelle Fultz being out for the majority of the season.

Anthony has done a better job at picking his spots of when to attack. It is something he is obviously still learning.

For Anthony, this offseason, and the next season will be about putting it all together. He has to be more consistent and more efficient in the field most of all.

As for this season, Anthony has shown growth as a playmaker and did more as a scorer while being slightly more efficient from a 44.9 effective field goal percentage his rookie year to 46.4 this season.
