5 Orlando Magic players who improved the most

5. Jalen Suggs

There is no question Franz Wagner has been the better player this season and has had the stronger rookie campaign. But Jalen Suggs has had the bigger jump in terms of improvement through the year.

While Suggs has not shot the ball well for the season, Suggs has improved in every other aspect of his game.

Suggs started his rookie season by averaging 4.0 assists and 3.3 turnovers per game in October. Then fast forwarding to March, Suggs averaged 4.8 assists to 2.8 turnovers in five games. If five games are too small of sample size, then in the 11 games in February, Suggs averaged 5.5 assists to 2.5 turnovers.

Suggs has improved throughout the year in creating for teammates while doing a better job of taking care of the ball. As a rookie guard, it has been important that Suggs does improve in that department.

It will remain a focus for the team to keep him doing simple things and keep him playing patient and composed. Suggs has a tendency to speed himself up and that is where he often gets in trouble.

Defensively Suggs has become a more sound defender in terms of playing team defense. The eye test tells you the story. Suggs has done a better job at picking his spots of attacking defensively and when to stay disciplined in terms of the teams’ scheme.

Suggs has to continue to improve in every aspect of his game, especially his shooting. However, Jalen has shown throughout the season he will improve, and given the time during the offseason, Jalen will take a jump to start the next season.
