3 young players the Orlando Magic should target

3. Bones Hyland

Alright, alright . . . we have been here before with Bones Hyland. A wiry guard who the contending Denver Nuggets felt would not be able to meaningfully contribute to their lofty goals.

In being traded to the LA Clippers at the deadline, for a pair of second round draft picks no less, Hyland went to another franchise with hopes of making some kind of splash in the postseason.

So far though, Hyland’s contribution in 10 games played (all off the bench) has been pretty much in line with what we saw while he was with the Nuggets.

Must Read. Orlando Magic are a reflection of their head coach. light

That is 11.2 points per game in 19 minutes of action per game. Why then the persistence in trying to get him to the Magic? It is simple really.

The Magic are not a good offensive group, and next season if they are serious about making the playoffs, will have to show some improvements in that area.

Getting elite scorers is a hard thing to do, but the Magic have two budding offensive maestros in Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, the best second year player in the entire NBA.

They will receive so much attention from opponents, that they will need others to be able to come in and hit some shots.

Hyland is only 22 years old, and has shown a willingness to shoot the ball whenever he can get his hands on it. If the price is two second round picks, or less, why wouldn’t the Magic do it?
