OMD Prediction
Things are not going well for the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving updated his health status and suggested he is still a long way from returning. By some reports he is dealing with an issue similar to what Markelle Fultz dealt with. The Nets are limping with injuries and limping into Orlando. Brooklyn has lost six of its past seven games and five in a row. In that time, the Nets’ offense has been worse than the Magic’s offense. Eek. Brooklyn has some good size in Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan. Every Magic game comes down to making and missing shots. Orlando is playing well defensively right now, no reason to think that would not continue.
1) The Orlando Magic are counting on the supremely unselfish Khem Birch to fill in for Jonathan Isaac at power forward, Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel writes. The Magic are still working to refine their new rotations. Coach Steve Clifford says he has complete trust in Wesley Iwundu and Khem Birch to fill in, John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com writes.
2) The Brooklyn Nets are still working Caris LeVert back into the rotation after returning from an injury. The message is that he is not here to rescue the Nets alone, Brian Lewis of the New York Post writes. He will be out Monday’s game and will play Tuesday’s game for Brooklyn. Matt Brooks of Nets Daily reviews LeVert’s debut.
3) Jonathan Isaac’s injury has decreased the team’s already small margin for error, Omar Cabrera writes.
4) The Orlando Magic need Aaron Gordon more than ever now without Jonathan Isaac.
5) The Orlando Magic’s defense has neared a breakthrough as it starts to play a whole lot better, resembling the play the Magic know they will need.
6) The Orlando Magic are still a playoff-caliber team even with Jonathan Isaac out with an injury.
