The Orlando Magic will reportedly workout Providence sophomore Ben Bentil, a likely second round draft pick in this year’s NBA Draft.

Once the Orlando Magic finish introducing Frank Vogel as their next head coach Monday afternoon, the rest of the work will begin for the team in this incredibly important offseason.

It begins with the NBA Draft taking place June 23 and figuring out what to do with the Magic’s 11th overall pick, along with the No. 41 and 46 overall picks.

The Orlando Magic appear to be moving forward with workouts this week. One player reportedly coming to Orlando is Providence forward Ben Bentil.

Adam Zagoria of SNY reports Bentil will work out for the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic this week and has already worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

Bentil announced on his Instagram on Sunday that he was keeping his name in the NBA Draft.

Bentil had a breakout sophomore year playing next to likely top-10 pick Kris Dunn at Providence. He averaged 21.1 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor.

The 6-foot-8 power forward has some good back-to-the-basket skills and uses his body well offensively to score. He has a nice mid-range jumper that is slowly expanding to the 3-point line. He is not overly athletic and obviously does not have great height to be a power forward until he develops a more consistent jumper.

Bentil was considered one of the winners from the NBA Draft Combine, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders. His measurements came in as expected for a player of his size, leaving some hope he could still shift up to play power forward. DraftExpress reported Bentil had the highest PER of any of the players who competed in the five-on-five scrimmages.

The Magic have been deep into that process scouting prospects all over the draft and used up most of their interview slots at the NBA Draft Combine. Not all of those players got leaked out to the media, but one thing Rob Hennigan has always done as general manager is do some deep research on these players.

For the next month, the Magic will be bringing in prospects in preparation for the NBA Draft. These workouts may be just as important to see how the players take to coaching and run through drills physically as it might be for getting more face time with the prospect and interviewing him to better understand his personality and demeanor.

This is a very important part of the process for the Magic. They do not like to leak who is or is not coming in.

Bentil is certainly an interesting and versatile player to consider for one of the Magic’s two second-round picks. And he is surely one of several prospects the Magic will have in this week and in the weeks to come.
