Grading 2016

35-47. 11th East. ORLANDO MAGIC. C+.

So how to give a final grade to the 2016 Orlando Magic?

It was a season that did not become a complete success. The team failed to make the playoffs for sure. And that was the main goal. They showed plenty of promise that they could. The way January played out was disappointing and colored the whole season.

Still there was good. The Magic showed plenty of promise. They had growing pains but began growing in many ways.

Not in the complete ways they had to in many ways. Not every player took steps forward. Not all the players the Magic have invested in defined their role. There is a lot of potential that has not been realized.

And that creates a lot of questions for the season.

Orlando did win 10 more games this year. That is a big step forward. And, largely, Orlando had the season that was expected largely. Hitting 35 wins was what a lot of people expected with this talent. The Magic met expectations.

After last year, that feels like progress. Things seem on track.

But questions remain. And the Magic failed to answer those questions.
