Orlando Magic Weekly Preview: January 4-11
By Joe Buckley
Saturday, January 9: vs. Washington Wizards (Villains of the week)
How could anyone but the Wizards be villains this week?
The Magic have fallen to the Wizards three times already this season. It looks a bit repetitive.
True, each game has been competitive. But Orlando has still come up short each time.
Even in a rough, underachieving season for the Wizards, riddled with injury and uncertainty about the future of the roster, the Wizards simply seem to have the Magic figured out.
Just last week, John Wall put up 24 points and 13 assists, while Otto Porter contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds in a win. Victor Oladipo had 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals of his own, but it wasn’t enough.
Unfortunately for the Magic, this game falls on the back-end of a back to back, something that they first do not have a ton of experience with and also mixed results whenever they do come across it.
When this is added onto the end of a four-game week, things do not look rosy for Orlando.
The Wizards are back in 11th and still have a losing record, but thanks to the East’s situation they have everything to play for still, giving the Magic yet another tough game for the week, but along with a final shot at redemption too.
