The Orlando Magic are quickly moving toward Summer League and are starting to fill up their two teams with roster guys and undrafted rookies.

The Orlando Magic now have one week before their team comes together for really the first time for Summer League games. It is an exciting time that will begin to shape the young players on the roster.

Rob Hennigan confirmed Thursday after the Draft that Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon, Devyn Marble and draft picks Mario Hezonja and Tyler Harvey will participate in Summer League. Hezonja though may play only one or two games because he continues to work on his buyout and because he just completed a season in which he played 54 games in ACB and Euroleague games.

The Magic also have two teams playing in the Orlando Summer League. It is not 100 percent how they will divvy the teams up, but the roster players are likely to play together on one team.

“We’ll have one team wearing white jerseys and one team wearing blue,” Hennigan said. “We haven’t divvied up the teams 100 percent yet. I think the vision is to have most of our roster players playing together and to have that second team to scout some players that we’ve been following closely all season long whether it be through the D-League or overseas.”

So who are these players? The Magic will have somewhere between 25 and 30 players wearing one of their uniforms next week in Orlando.

With the Draft having been completed, all the undrafted players are starting to sign up for Summer League teams. And some of those young free agents trying to break into the league will be committing to teams.

So far, the Magic have reportedly had Chris Singleton and Scottie Wilbekin lined up to join the team. A few other names got added to that list through various reports after the Draft.

Dayton’s Jordan Sibert announced on Instagram that he would be joining the Magic’s Summer League team Friday.

Sibert averaged 16.1 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting last year for Dayton. He is a 6-foot-4 guard originally recruited to Ohio State, but who transferred to Dayton after his sophomore year. Sibert shot just 34.9 percent from beyond the arc, so he seems to be more of a mid-range scorer and attacker than a shooter. He is not someone who has played a ton of point guard.

This may be a guy the Magic want to keep an eye on and bring in for their D-League team in Erie to see if he can develop some positional versatility or continue to build up his 3-point shot.

Joe Buettner of The Oklahoma Daily reports Sooners forward TaShawn Thomas will also join the Magic’s Summer League team.

Thomas is a 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward who averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last year for the Sooner. He started his career in Houston before transferring to Oklahoma. This is a big dude who can battle in the low post, but obviously is a bit undersized. He put up solid numbers at Houston before matching it at Oklahoma last season.

Jabari Young of Comcast Sports Northwest reported further the Magic also invited Georgetown’s Jabril Trawick to play with them.

Trawick averaged 9.1 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting and 40.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc last year for the Hoyas. He is a 6-foot-5 guard with some shooting ability that is still improving and needing to develop. His shooting continually improved throughout his four years at Georgetown. So he remains a very interesting prospect moving forward.

The final player reported to join the Magic’s Summer League team is 7-foot center Youssou Ndoye.

Ndoye averaged 11.8 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and 2.6 blocks per game last year for Bonnies as he continued to grow into his body and learn the game. This is a guy who was a late bloomer. But he has size and enough talent to intrigue. It would not be surprising to see him play with the Magic’s roster players as they give him a chance.

And one final confirmed player, Illinois center Nnana Egwu will also play with the Magic this summer.

Egwu does not have much skill in the way of offense — averaging just 6.5 points per game on 43.1 percent shooting — but he is a solid shot blocker at 6-foot-11. He had 1.8 blocks per game last season for the Illini. He was one of the better shot blockers in the Big Ten, averaging 1.5 blocks per game for his collegiate career.

Indeed, the Magic are going to have a lot of bodies to review as they get through Summer League. It is expected Erie Bayhawks players and training camp invitees Peyton Siva, Drew Crawford and Kadeem Batts will be part of the Summer League process. It would not be surprising to see other players from Erie join the squad this year too.

It will be interesting to see how the Magic make all these pieces fit together.

It will also be interesting to see how the Magic’s coaching staff begins to instill their style. Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports the coaching staff will get together Sunday and Monday to discuss their plans for Summer League and basic terminology for what they will run.
