Orlando Magic Player Evaluations: Devyn Marble
Final Grade
Marble’s problem is that he is the classic “Jack of all trades, master of none,” and he really does not have the widest array of skills. There are some very good skills — his energy and defense showed promise — but nothing that puts him comfortably at the NBA level.
In his rookie season, he did exactly what was asked of him when he got in the game. He played defense, sometimes too eagerly, and injected energy. His jumper still needs work and he has to find a way to get himself involved offensively. He still has learning to do defensively too.
Marble earned a second shot at making the team next year, but nothing is guaranteed for him moving forward.

Not a lot was expected of Devyn Marble when he was drafted. Everyone figured he would get a few chances here and there and a chance to contribute. But he would spend a good chunk of his time in Erie. The proved, more or less, to be correct.
For a guy coming out of college as a senior, Marble was not particularly refined or developed to contribute immediately. There are questions of just how much better he can get. And he certainly can get better.
