Orlando Magic Player Evaluations: Devyn Marble
Best Game of 2015
Jan. 10 @ Portland
6 pts., 3/6 FGs, 5 steals
Marble played in just four games from November 4 to January 3. He spent some time in the D-League, but was at the end of the bench, working in practice.
As Orlando went through its road trip in January, it was clear something was very very wrong. And it was on Jan. 10 that the Magic started to change some things, picking up the pace and going all out on offense to catch defenses off balance.
Marble was a big part of that and the game at Portland was not only his first start of his career, but was also perhaps his best game.
His five steals provided a tremendous amount of energy and he sparked the Magic to really control much of the game. His three buckets might have been on the fast break, but Marble really helped turn that game around. Elfrid Payton started pressuring more along with Marble and that changed everything.
This was the exact kind of game for Marble to thrive in. And he did exactly what the coaching staff asked of him.
There may not have been a higher moment for the rookie. Certainly one that proved he belonged.
