We addressed the Scot Skiles rumor here. It is natural to think of Skiles as a former Magic player (who lives in the Central Florida area still actually). We thought of it in the media room and he was part of the brainstorming of a list.

Skiles though is a taskmaster and a very demanding coach. He can be grating on young players (ask Tobias Harris) and has only had limited success as a head coach. And he never made any serious run in the Playoffs.

In essence, Skiles would be another quick fix. A coach for three or four years to get the team to the doorstep of greatness, but probably not the coach to get them all the way through.

After three years of Jacque Vaughn, the Magic are probably looking for someone they believe can be a little more permanent and continue to grow with this team. Skiles just does not seem to fit that bill.
