We touched on this a little while ago on the site. There appears to be a realistic chance First, Tobias has to keep playing at the level that he is playing at. He is averaging 18.6 points per game while shooting a career-best 47.4 percent from the floor. He has an 18.2 PER going for him right now. Those have to be pretty close to All Star numbers.

Typically I would say the Magic’s record would prevent them from getting any all stars, but the Magic are still 10th in the Eastern Conference. This is almost a playoff race!

Vucevic has played well too. He is at 18.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game with a 20.6 PER. Those too look like All Star numbers. Vucevic is still getting his feet under him, it seems, after the injury. The Magic, frankly, have to set him up with better postups first and get him the ball.

So will the two actually become All Stars?

The early returns from fan voting have Vucevic in 12th and Harris not in the Top-15. Figure both are more or less not getting voted. We knew that anyway.

  • If I were to construct the All-Star roster in the East, here is where I start: John Wall and Dwyane Wade (voted in) in the backcourt, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony (voted in) and Pau Gasol (voted in, but worthy) in the front court. Kyle Lowry and Kyrie Irving take the next two guard slots. Kevin Love and Chris Bosh are my locks at forward. The next batch of forwards should be down to Paul Pierce, Joakim Noah, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and our two Magic guys. The guards in line for a wild card spot are Jimmy Butler (probably a lock to get in) and Bradley Beal (probably getting in too).

So figure the group of forwards are battling for one spot. The odds of the coaches going for Vucevic and Harris for that last spot seem pretty low. It feels pretty low. They are putting up All-Star seasons, but without a team that is firmly in the Playoff race it is hard to see the coaches giving them that shot.

Some more eye-catching games from these two would help.
