Neal Fisher

Neal Fisher was born in Detroit, Michigan. The journalism and sports bug were caught by Neal at the age of six-every form of journalism and sports. Over the last 30 years, Neal has covered sports and news through print. Current coverage includes Wekiva and Apopka High Schools along with three annual local festivals for the Apopka Chief newspaper. Covering eight team and seven individual state (Florida) champions as well as the 2017 Florida Press Association award for best story/picture combination top the list of highlights. Delivering news and coverage of sports using the broadcasting medium has always been the vision Neal has had for his life though. In order to achieve the vision, Neal enrolled in the Full Sail/Dan Patrick School of Broadcasting. Neal’s expected graduation date is June 2021. The specific vision is pursuing a career which combines on-air talent for game broadcasts, show host as well as using video and digital platforms to produce stories. On-air talent for Wekiva Mustangs’ (Apopka, Florida) football and basketball games consists of Mark Bartschi and Neal. Full Sail also has a partnership with Rollins College to broadcast games, which Neal participated in during the 2019-2020 academic college year. Neal was selected to join the Oak Park (the suburb of Detroit Neal lived in) Bantam (hockey) and Little League All-Star programs at the age of eight. Defenseman and middle infielder were home to Neal. Two years later, a scholarship to attend and play for the first of two boarding schools was offered. Both schools were known for producing hockey and baseball players along with high academic standards. During those 12 years, Neal spent about 300 days per year on the road (away from home). Neal earned all-star honors each season for the league the school was a member of. A bachelor’s degree in History and minors in Russian as well as Jewish Studies from the University of Central Florida were then earned with a grade point average of 3.4. Neal has resided in Central Florida since 1990
