Orlando Magic’s 2022 Offseason Needs

Wing Depth

The other big weakness that is clear on the Orlando Magic’s roster is a lack of wing depth.

The Magic appear to be set at forward — they have a foursome of good young forwards to rotate through in Franz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac, Chuma Okeke and (presumably) their first overall pick. The last thing Orlando will need is another forward.

The team will need to address the backup center spot. But the team will also need to add some general wing depth, especially at shooting guard.

Re-signing Gary Harris would help in this regard. That might well be one of the priorities for the Magic this offseason.

Outside of him? The options in free agency are not great.

Tyus Jones is more of a point guard and would be undersized for what the Magic are likely looking for. Taurean Prince is a solid veteran who has had a major drop-off and likely fits better at power forward than at small forward. Jeremy Lamb has the reputation as a good shooter but is coming off his worst shooting season of his career.

These are not great options in this very skimpy free-agent class.

But Orlando needs to add some wing depth to help bolster this team this year. Even if it is someone just for spot minutes.
