5 Orlando Magic players who improved the most
1. Wendell Carter
Wendell Carter has shown the most improvement out of anyone on the roster this season, and it is not close.
The question at the beginning of the season is which of the two centers between Wendell Carter and Mo Bamba would be the starter once the team was healthy to possibly be the center of the future for the Orlando Magic.
The Magic ended up starting both the entire season. But it did not take long for it to become clear Carter was a different kind of player.
Carter added to his game on every level. Offensively, Carter has gotten better as a passer as the Magic started to use him as a distributor at the top of the key. His assists only increased from 1.6 to 2.8, but his evolution allowed Orlando to add that dimension to the offense.
Carter has increased his efficiency across the board too. He increased his overall field goal percentage from 50.3 to 52.5 and his three-point percentage from 29.4 to 32.7.
It has been impressive to watch Carter, become more efficient from the field while increasing his volume from 7.9 field goal attempts per game to 11 attempts and increasing his scoring from 11.2 to 15.0 a game.
On the other end of the floor, Carter has become more consistent with his energy defensively and as a rebounder. Wendell Carter has displayed the ability to guard the likes of Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns on several occasions throughout the season.
The question for Carter is where the ceiling is. He is only 22 years old and still has the potential to reach the next level. It is going to be interesting to see what another offseason can do not only for Carter but for the Magic as a whole.
