Orlando Magic: 5 under the radar home games
March 22 vs. Golden State Warriors
The obvious draw to any Golden State Warriors game is Stephen Curry.
The two-time MVP is always sure to put on a spectacular show for fans across the United States.
Surprisingly though, the Orlando Magic have three straight wins at the Amway Center over the Golden State Warriors.
The team got a huge win in late February over the Warriors in 2019 in a win that made it clear the Magic were serious about making a playoff run. In the 2020 season, the Magic survived a late comeback to defeat an injury-riddled Warriors team.
Then last year, Chuma Okeke hit several big shots and Nikola Vucevic recorded a triple-double with 30 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists to get the big win. It is rare the Warriors go three years without winning in a place.
Orlando hopes to continue having that team’s number. That may not be the case with the Warriors hoping to be back in title contention this year.
The reason this game is under the radar is Klay Thompson. The last time he played in a game was during the 2019 NBA Finals when he tore his ACL. Going into the next season, he tore his Achilles in the offseason forcing him to rehab another year.
Thompson is not expected to be back until the early portion of 2022. This game gives Orlando fans the chance to see one of the greatest shooters of all time back in action barring any setbacks.
On top of that, the Warriors are also touting a lot of new talent on their team after drafting Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody in the 2021 draft, two players Magic fans had on their radar with their two picks in this year’s draft. This will be a good barometer of their skills.
Golden State should also have a healthy James Wiseman who they selected second overall in 2020 and missed the majority last season due to a meniscus injury. In conclusion, the matchup is even more exciting than expected.
