A good problem to have
There are good problems and bad problems, and the backcourt questions the Orlando Magic will need to answer certainly falls into the former.
Cole Anthony and R.J. Hampton’s show of potential alongside a returning Markelle Fultz with veterans Gary Harris and Terrence Ross give Steve Clifford plenty of options for next season already.
An already stacked backcourt along with a draft that could have two top-10 picks coming to Orlando could only add to that problem, though, and the team’s management has to be ready to make brave choices when it comes to time on the court.
Landing Cade Cunningham would change the face of the franchise, as could a Jalen Suggs or Jalen Green. Any guard the Magic takes in the top ten needs a lot of time to develop.
It looks as though the team is ready to let the youngsters fight it out for time on the court and prove they deserve to be a big part of the roster moving forward. This highly competitive environment will have to be closely monitored but could yield rewarding results if done properly.
Tough choices inevitably lie ahead for Orlando. The front office cannot let this opportunity to rebuild go to waste, and the make up of the backcourt will be key to whether the Magic can finally get back to having a postseason run.
