OMD Prediction
The Sacramento Kings have one clear advantge over the Orlando Magic — the exact matchup this team struggles to deal with more than any other. A fast point guard who can get downhill and attack dop defenses, especially without a rim protector. De’Aaron Fox gave the Magic fits in the matchup in January. It was a nightmare. And he had a career game in the opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. The Spurs blitzed them early too. Orlando will have to be sharper defensively and defend the pick and roll and 3-point line better. Those are two areas the team has struggled. Sacramento has weapons to spread Orlando thin if its defense is not on point. The Magic’s offense has turned up. And this game will be a test of their focus and depth.
1) Jonathan Isaac’s return has given the Orlando Magic a clear boost. It could become a big part of the Magic’s potential playoff run. But his return will not be a cure-all and the team will need other players to step in.
2) The Orlando Magic will need their bench to continue carrying the torch as the seeding round continues, Chris Hays of the Orlando Sentinel writes. The Magic found energy off the bench to get the win Friday, Tim Briggs writes.
3) Acquiring James Ennis at the trade deadline has proven to be a big win for the Orlando Magic, Josh Cohen of OrlandoMagic.com writes.
4) Gary Clark will become an important player as the Orlando Magic rely more on their depth, Tim Briggs writes.
5) Jonathan Isaac chose to stand during the anthem, setting him apart from his peers and teammates. Isaac’s voice is important and it is important it remains his own as we try to further the conversation to end racism in this country.
6) Former NBA scout Bryan Oringher breaks down the Orlando Magic’s scrimmages to ask how they get over the top.
7) The Orlando Magic cannot underestimate the schedule ahead of them.
8) Orlando Magic coach Steve Clifford congratulated Orlando City on reaching the semifinals of the MLS is Back Tournament.
