Markelle Fultz will be available for training camp for the Orlando Magic. We do not know if he can do more, but this is an exciting development.
Legendary radio man Casey Kasem used to say, “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
Last week, Orlando Magic fans were treated to a flurry of news surrounding its mercurial point guard Markelle Fultz that might tempt them to float away with the hype. Before then, fans were completely in the dark on what Markelle Fultz could do, or even if he would be ready for training camp.
On Sept. 25, information began trickling in (read: the coordinated PR blitz was on).
First, news broke that Fultz had signed with Roc Nation. “Hmmm,” many Magic fans probably said. A curious development, to be sure.
Soon after, the official Twitter account of the Orlando Magic chimed in:
And next came “The Big One.”
It was music to the ears of every playmaker-starved Magic fan on the planet. Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said in an interview Markelle Fultz would have no restrictions for training camp.
For many, this meant it was finally happening. The patience had paid off.
"“I’m excited,” Fultz said at Orlando Magic Media Day on Monday. “It’s the first step toward the season. Just being able to go out there and get a good sweat in, compete, learn some more plays and learn the defensive schemes and get ready for the season.”"
Fultz, blessed with so much talent in a position of obvious, glaring need for Orlando, would finally see the court with his Magic teammates.
The speculation began on how many regular-season games he would play. Starting five combinations offered and exchanged. Just how much of a dark horse is Orlando for the Eastern Conference crown?
Fultz is at the center of this excitement. Fans certainly have their eyes on this moment.
