Orlando Magic unveil new courts for 2020 season
When the Orlando Magic take the floor at the Amway Center, they will do so on a fresh court design. And the first alternate court in Magic history.
The Orlando Magic’s home court will look a bit different in the 2020 season. And depending on what jersey the team is wearing, it will look different from that.
The team already announced it would have a tribute to owners Rich and Helen DeVos placed on the court. But the court will also feature a new design, as the team announced in an advertisement for season tickets on Thursday.

The team will still feature the court it used from last year with the full logo at center court and the secondary logo inside the 3-point arc. But the team will also use a court that features the secondary logo at mid-court and the Magic block spelling inside the 3-point arc.
The team will also have a black alternate court design to go along with the traditional blue court designs.
This is the first time the Orlando Magic have gotten in on the alternate court designs since the Milwaukee Bucks first made them popular. Other teams have used alternate courts too to go along with their alternate jerseys — specifically their City Edition jerseys.
It is not clear when the Magic will break out these courts. It seems from the names that the “Core” court, the one with the blue lane and the secondary logo at midcourt, will be the one the team plays on most nights.
The Association court is the traditional court, assumedly worn when the team wears its traditional white or “Association Edition” jerseys. And the “Icon” court, the one with the black lane, would pair with the team’s “Icon Edition” jerseys (the traditional blue jerseys).
There have been rampant rumors the Magic will switch up their City Edition jerseys, moving away from the space theme the team has worn last year.
The rumor going around is that it will be based on the city’s ties to the orange growing industry. And that may come with a new court too.
Those are all just rumors at this point. The Magic have not announced any changes to their uniforms yet.
It is fun to see the Magic try out some new designs for their court. They have not made any major changes to their court since switching to an all-blue lane a few years ago. The Magic’s court, including the center court design, has virtually gone unchanged since moving into the Amway Center in 2010.
Fans have been hungry for a bit of a brand redesign recently. If anything, to move past the long rebuild that kept the team out of the playoffs for the last six years.
That probably is not in the works. The Magic are at least sticking to their secondary logo they have had for nearly 20 years and making it more prominent on their court.
The Magic are eagerly rolling out the added features to the aesthetics of their team as the season inches closer.
They will get a new feel when they step on their new Amway Center court.
