Mission: Impossible

This presents a difficult dilemma for the Magic at the trade deadline. The Playoffs are tantalizingly close. But this team has a definite ceiling as the team’s recent struggles and failures to get wins in close games or hold onto large leads. The conclusion from the start of the season that Orlando has to flip the roster over and begin grooming the young players remains.

I do not envy Orlando’s front office right now. They are in an extremely tough position. They need to be able to sell fans on their product while not compromising the vision of their ideal team.

Terrence Ross and Nikola Vucevic may very well still figure into that equation. But the Magic will also have to carefully weigh what they can get for them in trades today. That long-term vision is always in mind. Even with the team still on the outskirts of the Playoff race.

The mission they have is nearly impossible, but they have chosen to accept it.
