How necessary is a trade for the Orlando Magic to make the Playoffs? What should they target on the market?

Rossman-Reich: I think if the Orlando Magic want to make a Playoff push they absolutely have to find a move to add some depth. Doing that is obviously easier said than done.

The point guard situation behind D.J. Augustin is untenable for a Playoff team. Isaiah Briscoe is certainly interesting but extremely rough around the edges. This team will get exposed a bit more as the season progresses and the games get tighter.

Coach Steve Clifford can only play the starters so much. So if the Magic have anything they must do before the deadline, it is to find a backup point guard for the rest of the season.

Palmer: I do not think a trade is definitely necessary, but I think it would definitely solidify a chance at the Playoffs. Their main focus should be finding a backup point guard and any shooters.

If the Orlando Magic can acquire a point guard in a lopsided deal — say Jerian Grant and Jarrell Martin for a point guard — there are free agent wings who could fill the shooting void. Guys like Jodie Meeks, John Jenkins and Jimmer Fredette can probably help the team out as bench shooters.

Racine: I think it is important for the Orlando Magic to make a trade to help them solidify a playoff spot. The Magic owe it to their fans to try and make it to the playoffs.

A point guard should help get them over the hump. A scoring guard preferably because the Magic are in desperate need of additional scoring off the bench. The new point guard could take over as the new starting point guard and move D.J. Augustin to the bench or vice-versa.
