What Could Go Wrong

Possibly the best thing going for Jonathan Isaac this season is that the only way this upcoming season could be more of a disaster than last season would be some type of serious injury that could affect him for more than just this current season. A repeat of last year where he misses major time or shows he does not have the durability to make it through the season would raise some serious questions.

There is a small chance the additional weight Isaac put on this past year may have affected his lateral quickness and speed. If that does in fact happen it is possible Isaac may not be as effective on defense as he was previously.

But as of now, there are no indications the weight Isaac has put on has done nothing outside of helping him.

Offensively, Isaac was a disaster last season and it would be hard for him to take a step down this year. He averaged 5.4 points per game on a horrible 43.4 percent effective field goal percentage. Any offense the Magic got from Isaac last year was a bonus and he looked out of rhythm with his jumper all year.

In a doomsday scenario, it might be possible that Isaac manages to shoot even worse from deep this season and it allows defenses to collapse in the paint even more than they normally do versus Orlando.

That being said it would combat reality to think that Isaac’s shooting splits of 38 percent field goal shooting and 35 percent 3-point shooting would dip even further in his second NBA campaign.

Truly, Isaac is the one player Magic fans should be extremely excited about as there is really nowhere but up to go for him this upcoming season barring a traumatic injury.
