The offseason is almost over. The Orlando Magic have a few items to tie off before the season begins. But we are all excited to get 2019 started.
The offseason is almost over.
No lie, the long wait for the regular season to begins is in its final 50 days. The Orlando Magic will open their training camp Sept. 25 after their Media Day on Sept. 24. And the first preseason game in Philadelphia against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 1.
The math here is simple, there is less than one month now until NBA and Magic basketball returns to the court. Even in preseason form.
Even with the Magic’s somewhat dim prospects, it is an exciting time. Being 0-0 holds all kinds of exciting possibilities. And fans are excited to see what this young team can do as they begin to grow.
There are still a few things to get to before training camp opens.
Grant Hill will head into the Hall of Fame, causing all kinds of emotions in Magic fans. Grant Hill’s unfulfilled time in Orlando certainly hurt some of his Hall of Fame credentials. But before then he put in some record-setting performances with the Duke Blue Devils and Detroit Pistons, cementing his place in NBA history.
And then slowly all the players will get back into town. Several of them have made their last bits of vacation over Labor Day and are back in Orlando to play pick up and work out together.
This past weekend Jonathan Isaac and Mohamed Bamba were spotted at Camping World Stadium for the game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Louisville Cardinals. Evan Fournier and Jonathon Simmons appear back in town now too.

Terrence Ross has spent most of his summer in Orlando but appears to have started playing major pickup games with prospects and teammates at Amway Center. Things are starting to turn toward the season.
And so, at last, we can start thinking seriously about how this season might go. With all of its possibilities, hopes and concerns. There are certainly a lot of them.
To help wrap up the last bits of the offseason, the Orlando Magic Daily staff got together to answer some questions to help tie those loose ends together and get us ready for the 2019 season.
