Magic Gaming made its debut in the NBA 2K League at the tip-off tournament and went winless as the team still comes together.

Magic Gaming dropped all three of its games, bowing out of the NBA 2K League Tip-Off tournament in the group stage.

The Magic were unlike many other teams, lacking a dominant scorer and relying on their defense. It was a bit of a struggle and a team that was still getting its footing underneath it.

Magic Gaming’s first-round pick, KontruL, averaged 13.3 points per game and 8.3 assists per game, shooting 14 for 31 from the floor.

It was truly a different player making a mark in each game. In Thursday’s opening game against Raptors Uprising, it was SUPREMEPULLER scoring 16 points to lead the way. In the second game against Blazer5 Gaming, it was marley213s with 25 points. And it was KontruL in the final game leading the way with 18 points and 12 assists against 76ersGC in Friday’s finale.

The week may not have gone the way the team wanted, but it did include one of the highlights of group play.

The results from the tip-off tournament will not count against the overall season standings. This was a warm-up tournament. But still, one that Magic Gaming wanted to see itself perform a bit better in.

There is plenty of time to go back to the drawing board and get back into contention as the season continues on.

To be sure, the team will need to get a big effort from its first overall pick, KontruL. He will set everything up for the team as its point guard.

You can meet the University of Florida student in this report from Spectrum Sports 360:

There is still a lot of team chemistry and a lot of growth to come. The team has been together in Orlando the last few weeks working and practicing together to prepare for these games. It still feels like everyone is getting a better sense of how this league is going to work.

There were more than a few hiccups throughout the league.

There were a lot of games that everyone expected. Top overall pick DatBoyDimez scored the first 50-point game in league history for Mavs Gaming. The final will be played Saturday night.
