Mario Hezonja has still got game
Mario Hezonja is averaging a respectable 9.3 points per game in 21.4 minutes per game. He has displayed his athleticism, quick release and passing ability on numerous occasions. Whether it is the high-flying dunk or the acrobatic pass, Hezonja is a highlight reel waiting to happen.
Against the Phoenix Suns last Saturday, Mario Hezonja disrupted and stole a pass from Tyler Ulis to Jared Dudley. He then took one dribble and faked out Ulis with a behind-the-back pass to his teammate Shelvin Mack. Shelvin Mack then threw a lob to Mario Hezonja for a flying one-handed slam.
This play may be indicative of Hezonja’s future. Hopefully with the Magic.
A 6-foot-8 forward with good court vision and a knack for the fancy pass, Hezonja shows flashes of the talent that made him the fifth overall pick. But Hezonja has become more adept at making the easy play. He is now known as one of the best cutters on the team.
Hezonja is more than just a spot-up shooter and not just strictly an offensive player. His effort level has improved on the defensive end, and he is a better player off the ball.
Hezonja is a valuable NBA player, still gleaming with star potential. At least now he is a usable NBA player. The Magic surely regret their decision to decline his player option from October.
