It may have been a surprise to many, but Trae Young and the Oklahoma Sooners are in the NCAA Tournament. Throughout 2018, Young has led the Sooners with tremendous stat lines, scoring and dishing out assists at will.

Young led the nation in scoring (27.4 points per game) and assists (8.8 per game) on his way to becoming arguably the top point guard of the class. Young has drawn comparisons to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry for his unlimited range and passing ability.

Young has some work to do as his size will make it hard for him to score at the rim and his turnover numbers are quite eye-opening. However, he is certainly a target for Orlando.

After the Elfrid Payton trade, Orlando is in desperate need of a point guard and Young could be the long-term answer. An offensive superstar, Young may have a March similar to Jimmer Fredette and Stephen Curry from years past.

Collin Sexton, Alabama

vs. Virginia Tech, March 15/9:20 p.m. (TNT)

One of the top point guard prospects in the nation, Sexton put on a show against No. 16 Auburn in the SEC Tournament. The freshman dropped 31 points, grabbed seven rebounds and shot an outstanding 6-for-8 from behind the arc.

Sexton has excelled as a slash-first guard. His play style is reminiscent of former Orlando guard Elfrid Payton. He has unmatched speed and a finishing ability at the rim that few college guards can match.

Sexton has the size and athletic ability to succeed at the NBA level, if he can improve his jump shot and become a threat from the outside, he may be the next great NBA guard.

Although Magic supporters may shy away from a ball-handler that cannot hit from the outside, the rest of Sexton’s skill set will make him a target for Weltman and the Orlando front office.
