Jonathon Simmons

Years Experience: 2
Career Averages: 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds

The only new signing on this list, Jonathon Simmons will be looking to prove he can be an effective NBA player outside of the San Antonio Spurs system.

Jonathon Simmons impressed in the playoffs last season following an injury to Kawhi Leonard. But he established himself in the league as a talented defender. That is the best way to get on Gregg Popovich’s good side.

A relatively late bloomer, he will be looking to show in Orlando he is far more than a Spurs-system player.

A high-energy player who always gives his all, he should prove to be a valuable addition for the Magic. He is the kind of player that can give a team defensive edge.

But he still has a lot of room to improve.

One area where he needs to improve is from beyond the arc. Simmons has shot just 32.2 percent for his career on 3-pointers. This is especially important, as he is likely to play heavier minutes in Orlando than in San Antonio.

Simmons is coming into Orlando as someone highly-regarded around the league. The pressure will be on him this season to maintain this reputation.
