Vince Carter is an ageless wonder.  He played in 73 games and averaged 24 minutes per night for the Memphis Grizzlies last year at 40 years old.

This year he averaged 8.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point range. He is still a valuable role player on the court. And he can be a mentor to players off the court.

Vince Carter’s career exploits are well documented. Everyone knows about his accolades, so when he speaks people listen. Not to mention his legendary dunk contest carries weight around the league. Many of the players playing in the league looked up to Carter in some way when they were kids.

Carter does not have his trademark explosiveness, so he has become more cerebral. The Magic could benefit from his basketball wisdom, and how he sees the game.

A player like Carter would bring so much to the Magic organization, if not just the nostalgic attention of having Carter on the roster. But the question is at this stage of his career would Carter be willing to return home to be part of a rebuilding project.

There are reports Carter is open to signing a minimum deal with the Golden State Warriors to chase a championship. That lure would be tough to pass up.

But Central Florida is his home. Plus the Magic are in a position to overpay, so they have a chance.
