Final Word

Bam Adebayo has the tools to be an effective contributor on the NBA level. He needs to land on a team that will define his role and that will use him properly.

Adebayo can affect the game in the way that Tristan Thompson plays a valuable role for the Cleveland Cavaliers by giving them second chance shots with his offensive rebounds and high energy.

Once Adebayo understands his strengths and accepts them the sooner, he can perfect them and be a major part of an organization.

Setting good screens and rolling hard to the basket for lobs and tip ins should be his main source of offense. For a big man with a limited offensive game, having the soft hands to catch in traffic and finish is a plus.

In order for Adebayo to reach his full potential, he must become more consistent. He shows a high motor on offense when fighting for rebounds or outrunning defenders to the rim in transition. If he can show that same tenacity on the defensive end, Adebayo will no doubt be a fan favorite for whatever team drafts him, but can also be an All star in the league.

For the Orlando Magic, they have a player very similar to Adebayo in Bismack Biyombo. The major difference between the two is their hands. Apart from not having great hands, Bismack Biyombo does know his role and rarely plays outside of it.

Orlando signed Biyombo to fill the role of rim protector. Adebayo has the tools to be that guy if he steps up his focus and consistency on defense.

After acquiring Biyombo last year at such a seemingly high price tag it would be unlikely the Magic use a pick on a similar player. But if Orlando can land a Biyombo-type player that can catch the ball cleanly and finish above the rim with Elfrid Payton, they might take a chance on him with a lower price tag.
