Orlando Magic Draft: Who stands to lose the most?
By Sam Skubala
Terrence Ross
Athletic and a talented shooter, Terrence Ross came to Orlando with the opportunity to reinvent himself. Long branded as inconsistent, he came to a team with lower expectations. That would better allow him to show his individual talent.
Playing 24 games for the Magic, Ross averaged 12.5 points and 1.4 steals per game on 43.1 percent shooting. Ross appeared streaky, although — as he was with the Toronto Raptors — would be a fine player if he was more consistent.
This came as a disappointment to Magic fans, who had hoped in Ross they would be receiving a two-way forward whose athleticism and shooting provided a potent offensive mix. Yet the 26-year old struggled from deep, shooting a lackluster 34.1 percent for Orlando.
That said, Ross’ honeymoon period with Orlando could soon come to an end if the Magic pick a small forward like Jonathan Isaac or Jayson Tatum.
Sites like Draft Express expect Orlando to pick the talented forward coming out of Florida State University. While Isaac can play at both forward positions, it is unlikely Orlando will want to block Aaron Gordon from playing as much at the 4 as possible, leaving Ross at the small forward spot the man out in the cold.
