For the Orlando Magic, who they pick in the 2017 NBA Draft could chart a different course for the future of the ball club — and have huge ramifications for some of the players currently on the roster.

On draft night this coming Thursday, the Orlando Magic will have four picks – Nos. 6, 25, 33 and 35. With a new front office team led by president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman and general managerJohn Hammond, it is kind of uncertain what direction the team will head. The team has kept quiet on what it is looking for.

The Magic have needs at every position. They need to cover almost every facet of the game. The team will not be drafting for a need, but rather simply taking the best player available. Weltman confirmed this at his press conference Monday, saying the team was too early in the process to worry about need. The Magic just need to add talent.

As a result, the Magic may be taking a player from any one of the five positions.

The 2017 season was a colossal disappointment for the Magic. It marked the end of the Rob Hennigan era in Orlando. What was evident was that the team needs drastic change, on both ends of the court.

What this means for the current roster is that almost any player could stand to lose, depending on who the Magic pick. With no star on the roster, the entire team seems in flux. But some are at greater risk than others.
