After dealing Serge Ibaka at the trade deadline, the Orlando Magic received a late-first round pick. Can they land a contributor with the 25th overall pick?

With the Orlando Magic’s new front office taking shape, they will have plenty of work to do in preparation for the NBA Draft. The Magic will have the sixth and 25th pick in the first round of the draft and two more in the early second round. Having two first round picks could help quicken the “re-tooling” process the Magic face.

Typically, picking at number 25 does not mean that a team will be landing a sure-fire star. The Magic should be looking for a player who has the tools to play a specific role in the NBA.

Previous players taken 25th in the Draft include Brice Johnson, Clint Capela, Tony Wroten, MarShon Brooks and Nicolas Batum. There are several solid players taken with this pick specifically.

This late in the first round, there are a plethora of prospects the Magic could be looking at. Especially since the Magic also have picks Nos. 33 and 35 in the second round. The team has to weigh who might last into the second round and ensure they take a player worthy of a first-round investment (and the four-year deals that come with that investment).

Still, there is a group of prospects that would make sense for Orlando. Whether it be a scoring guard or a developing big man, the Magic could find good value late in the first round.

When taking a look at popular mock drafts around the web and a few players the Magic brought in for workouts in recent days, a few targets have emerged early in this process.
