2017 NBA Draft: 2nd Round Gambles for the Orlando Magic
With the NBA Draft Lottery behind us, we can take a look at realistic options for the Orlando Magic. With two second round picks, here are some gems to mine in the 30s.
The Orlando Magic currently own four picks in this year’s draft. Two first round picks (sixth and 25th) along with two second-round picks (33rd and 35th).
Whether the team keeps all of their picks is yet to be determined. With the number six pick, the Magic should be able to come away with a very good contributor to the team. After the top eight picks, this draft class starts to get more middle of the road with hopes for “potential.”
There are a few notable players drafted in the second round currently in the NBA, All-Stars Marc Gasol, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green and Paul Millsap to name a few. There are even more starters who have made a mark in the league for years as well who were found in the second round.
So it is reasonable to think the Magic can find a long-time starter or even an eventual All-Star at the top of the second round in this draft. These are valuable picks.
Here we will take a look at some possible options at the top of the second round. Not to say the Magic will even keep all of these picks, but if they do there should be some decent players available.
The Magic pretty much will have the same starting lineup return next season unless a trade is made or they acquire a big-time free agent. Any player selected in the second round will not be expected to be a starter or even an impact player right away. The Magic will ask these guys simply to contribute.
There is the potential to fill some critical roles with these picks.
