6th Pick

Joel Brigham: Dennis Smith, NC State
Michael Scotto: Dennis Smith, NC State
Moke Hamilton: Jayson Tatum, Duke
Steve Kyler: Malik Monk, Kentucky

There are obviously multiple scenarios for this first pick for the Magic. And what the Magic do is certainly dependent on what is available to them.

The early prediction is for the Magic to be deciding between Dennis Smith, Malik Monk and Jonathan Isaac at six. If Jayson Tatum were to drop, that would certainly change something for the Magic and their calculus.

While Smith won the ACC’s Freshman of the Year Award, Tatum was the one getting a lot of the NBA accolades. He averaged 16.8 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game on an efficient 50.3 percent effective field goal percentage.

Tatum has a lot of the tools teams are looking for in scoring forwards, albeit a bit of a throwback. He has to continue showing he can expand his range out to the 3-point line and that he has the quickness to play on the perimeter and not as a Carmelo Anthony-4.

25th Pick

Joel Brigham: Isaiah Hartenstein, Germany
Michael Scotto: Donovan Mitchell, Louisville
Moke Hamilton: Harry Giles, Duke
Steve Kyler: Devin Robinson, Florida

Isaiah Hartenstein is a 7-foot forward from Germany who played for Zalgiris in Lithuanalast year. He rarely played last season, and so he is a bit of a project. He has decent athleticism and length and can use space well, according to DraftExpress. but he has to improve his shot and get more comfortable playing at a faster pace. With four picks in this draft, the Magic might be wise to use one of their second round picks on him and stash him in Europe until he is ready to come to the NBA.

Donovan Mitchell is an impressive guard who averaged 15.9 points per game last year for the Louisville Cardinals. He showed some nice athleticism at the Combine and was one of the players who surprised and impressed in the measurements portion.

Harry Giles had an injury-filled year for Duke last season. He was considered one of the top high school prospects in the country though and has incredible talent. It is tough to see him falling completely out of the first round because of that talent. Giles started coming on stronger as the season went on and he got healthier.

Devin Robinson is more likely to be a second round pick. The Florida Gators guard was a sharpshooter and might be one of the best shooters in this Draft. He has decent athleticism, but he has to prove he can extend out to the NBA line.
