Most Valuable Player: Evan Fournier

Coming into this season the Orlando Magic were set to be a defensive powerhouse. The question was whether there would be enough offense to make them a legitimate playoff contender.

While we can now conclude the offense (nor the defense for that matter) was playoff material, a key player in the success of the Orlando offense was Evan Fournier.

Fournier was perhaps Orlando’s most consistent contributor. Averaging 17.2 points per game, Fournier led the team in scoring. He also finished second in assists per game and tallied the highest offensive box plus-minus on the team, per Basketball-Reference.

Fournier had his number called on several occasions in clutch situations to close out games. His ability to take the big shot with no hesitation along with his ability to get to the rim make him the most reliable option down the stretch of games.

Fournier’s consistency also made him the only Magic player to not be pulled from the starting lineup throughout the year. Fournier’s only two games off the bench were those returning from injury.

The passion Fournier plays with definitely makes him a leader on this Magic team and without his outside shooting and penetration, the Magic would be far worse than they were this season.
