"For the Magic, though, the question is what they’ll do with their potential top-five pick when there isn’t a single player on the roster who’s safe. Elfrid Payton was a triple-double machine since the All-Star break, Terrence Ross has been great since the trade and Aaron Gordon has tons of promise, but given this team’s poor drafting history under Rob Hennigan — and their tendency of prematurely giving up on players — Magic fans should be sitting on the edge of their seats."

As the Orlando Magic look to remake their roster this summer, it does seem like everyone is on the table. There is nothing that the team will for sure hold onto. If anything, orlando needs to refocus its rebuild on a core and complementing that core.

And no one is really willing to say anyone currently on the roster is part of a long-term core. After five years of losing, the Magic are hungry for success and likely want it quickly.

The start for the Magic will be that Draft pick. Orlando certainly should consider whomever they pick with that first pick in this year’s draft as part of some nebulous future core. That should be a player the team plans to build around in the near future.

As always seems the case, the new GMs first decision — the draft pick — could very well be the most important in setting Orlando down a path back to the Playoffs.

As the season ends, all we can do is wait until May and hope for some luck to make that future a bit brighter.
