"Amid a steady stream of speculation that changes are coming to the Magic’s front office at season’s end, it was the last thing this team (and specifically GM Rob Hennigan) needed: Patricio Garino’s agent tweeting a picture of his young client signing with Orlando without realizing that the picture exposed sensitive material listing Orlando’s potential offseason trade and free-agent targets. That’s obviously not the sort of surprise that the Magic were hoping to swing in Year 1 of the Frank Vogel era, but we’re bound to remember the dry-erase board snafu as much as anything from an otherwise forgettable season in the Magic Kingdom that — five years removed from Dwight Howard’s departure — still finds them so far from anything resembling playoff contention."

There has been enough about the whiteboard. And, like I said, I think it is much ado about nothing. Other than it being completely embarrassing and a final nail in the final nail in the coffin.

The signing of Patricio Garino and Marcus Georges-Hunt to multi-year deals felt like a long time coming. In that the Magic would infuse the roster with some young talent. That is typically what tanking teams do. And the Magic have found ways to get them some playing time and see what they can do.

That part is not necessarily the important part. Both Garino and Georges-Hunt seem like capable NBA players in the right role. What it really says though is the Magic have such an odd roster with little hope of development that they do not even have young players they need to play around them. Orlando is not pushing any veterans out the door to make way for younger players, they still have to play the same group that got them into this mess. And it is not likely Georges-Hunt or Garino will displace them.

This is the sad state of affairs the Magic’s roster is currently in.
