"What happens in the front office with Rob Hennigan’s future figures to dominate NBA discussion in Central Florida for the rest of the season, given that there’s so little of note happening on the floor for the Magic entering their final 12 games. One exception, perhaps, is the scheduled return to the lineup this week for Jodie Meeks, who has been sidelined by a dislocated right thumb since Jan. 18. But that’s really about it in terms of on-court developments. How Magic management responds to a fifth straight non-playoff season since trading away Dwight Howard simply has to be the focus from here."
You can tell it is slow for a team when the big thing to anticipate is the return of Jodie Meeks (sorry, Jodie).
Meeks has made a small impact already in two games. His ability to shoot and the threat of his 3-pointer certainly give defenses some pause. And the Magic do have to see what they can get from Meeks in determining whether to bring him back next year.
But that is small potatoes. The focus for the Magic and their fans is indeed on the future of the front office and then further on the Draft ahead.
Orlando netting its second straight win — the first win streak for the team since Boxing Day (Dec. 26) — caused fans to go into an uproar for fears of passing the Philadelphia 76ers and “falling” to the fifth best Lottery odds.
that may still happen, but the Magic are probably not going to change their Lottery position drastically in the final three weeks this season. And if Orlando were content to have another high Lottery pick and rebuild next year, the team would have signaled that through some other roster moves.
