Orlando Magic Power Rankings Roundup: Signs of progress
Jeremy Woo, Sports Illustrated
"The Magic are taking their lumps, but they’ve actually managed some better play post All-Star. It’s not really about how many games they win from here, and more about how to asses their key core components. Moving Aaron Gordon to power forward is a start."
It is starting to feel like there is a constant argument that has to be had after every game. I know I have said it far too many times on Locked On Magic. Yes, I hear you, it is annoying.
Inevitably whenever the Magic win a game — or come close to winning one — someone will fill my timeline with complaints about the Magic ruining their Draft opportunities. The idea of Frank Vogel trying to push for wins is a negative.
If the Magic feel they are a few tweaks away, they need to win. And they need to win games like Sunday’s game against the Washington Wizards and Monday’s game against the New York Knicks. There is no excuse for these losses. This is the lesson they have to learn.
Orlando still has a lot to accomplish the rest of this season. There will still be plenty of losses. The team will begin playing Mario Hezonja more than they are already. Stephen Zimmerman might even get a chance.
But winning is always good. It is never a bad thing. And when the opportunity to win comes, the Magic need to take it.
