Aaron Gordon’s dunk contest was a source of a lot of hope and entertainment for Magic fans. This season has been so disappointing that the team just needed a win. Gordon seemed as sure a thing as anything.

The foot injury last week raised some concerns, but perhaps Gordon would scale some of his plans back and still win. He is one of the best dunkers in the league. And he took the dunk contest extremely seriously.

Well, things did not work out well. Like the Magic’s season, the expectations were not met. And the contest was bitterly disappointing for Gordon and Magic fans.

Magic fans were understandably upset afterward. This was their chance to win something and feel important. And Gordon was the only Magic player participating at the All-Star festivities and representing the team.

Instead of glory, they got something close to embarrassment. Fans were as disappointed in Gordon’s performance as Gordon was surely disappointed in himself. Now all that is left for the Magic is to find some hope in the rest of the season. That could be tough sitting at 21-37 and seeing the Playoffs far out of reach.
