Who is your favorite draft prospect so far?
Rossman-Reich: I am still getting around to many of the draft picks. I have been really impressed with Lonzo Ball. I still have a ton of questions about his ability to shoot and score consistently, but he seems to have a really good feel and rhythm for the game. He does not feel like a freshman in a lot of ways. I am really intrigued to see how he grows. His athleticism and potential are also plenty intriguing.
Iwanowski: It seems so obvious to say: Markelle Fultz, as he is pretty unanimously the number one option. If the Magic do not get the top pick, there are some other solid options. Lonzo Ball, who Phil described earlier, can be a very strong offensive player. Dennis Smith Jr. is an elite athlete, solid shooter and playmaker. And he is probably No. 2 on my list. Two other interesting options for this Magic team would be Jonathan Isaac and Jayson Tatum, two small forwards who can pair well with Gordon for a front court of the future. Both can play at the wing offensively and guard bigger players — Isaac is 6-foot-10 and long and Tatum, despite being 6-foot-8, plays primarily at the 4 for Duke. Both players would be a shooting threat and potential playmaker that would make for a fun forward partner with Gordon. Last one, I would consider if the Magic slip a bit in the order is Malik Monk. His biggest weakness is he is a bit short for a 2, but he can score extremely well and would give the Magic a skillset they have been lacking for a while.
Grullon: The one prospect that intrigues me the most is Josh Jackson. Jackson has the ability to come into the NBA and be a solid two-way player right away. Some are comparing him to Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard and it is easy to see why. He has the speed, athleticism and skills to turn into a solid NBA player. The other player I am keeping a close eye on is Lonzo Ball. Ball has been compared to a mix of Jason Kidd and Stephen Curry. He has shown his shooting skills and playmaking skills already in his short NCAA career, but it will be interesting to see if it will transition to the NBA.
McMillan: My favorite prospect so far is Jonathan Isaac. First of all, I love a versatile player. At 6-foot-10, Isaac can play small forward and power forward. He has great ball-handling skills for his size and can create off the dribble. Players like this are becoming less rare but getting one is still a prize. Look at Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Jonathan Isaac has the makeup of that type of player. Personally, I wanted the Magic to land Kristaps Porzingis a couple of years ago and he went one spot before they could draft him. Last year it happened again with Thon Maker. If the Magic can get a 6-foot-10 ball handler that would be a great addition.
Jumani: To me, it has been Markelle Fultz. He has shown the ability to make plays for his teammates and shoot the ball, as well as score the ball. He has shown he can be a big-time player in the NBA. But if the Magic do not get the No. 1 pick, then they should look to pick Ball or Jackson.
