Overall Outlook

Elfrid Payton has the potential to average a double-double and play similarly to his most common comparison, Rajon Rondo.

If everything goes right for Payton, he could average about 12-14 points and 10 assists per game, as well as four or more rebounds. A combination of those types of box score numbers with tough perimeter defense could be enough to make him the franchise-level point guard they hoped he would be.

If he brings the strengths he has shown he can bring, the Magic would feel confident in him as their point guard going forward. And they may choose to offer him a hefty extension to cement that relationship.

Elfrid Payton has the potential to be a very effective player even by sticking to the parts of the game he is most comfortable with. But a lot has to go right in order for him to reach that potential.
