NBA Position Rankings: Top 10 Small Forwards for 2017
6. Carmelo Anthony, New York
Carmelo Anthony receives a lot of criticism. He remains a big iso player in the league. He has fought against some of the new analytics and way superstars play.
Despite those criticisms, Anthony still produces. Even in a bad year like last year, Anthony averaged 21.8 points per game and grabbed 7.7 rebounds per game. Anthony is still a multi-faceted scoring option who finds other ways to contribute.
His play style may still stop the ball, but when Anthony gets “it,” he is extremely dangerous. He can still anchor a good team.
Figuring out how he will share the ball with Derrick Rose and the emerging Kristaps Porzingis will be critical for his and his team’s development this year.
Anthony though is not a player who needs to change much of what he does. What he has done in his long career is nothing short of tremendous. Anthony is one of the best scorers in the league still.
