The Eastern Conference is a mess (it’s not just the Orlando Magic)

New York Knicks

Will the Knicks actually build something this time?

The New York Knicks do not have patience. Each building plan has an aim at getting someone who can fit in the marquee and get butts in Madison Square Garden. It has been a long time since New York has had anything worth writing about — other than a quick headline.

Phil Jackson was supposed to be patient and different. The team bottomed out, drafted Kristaps Porzingis and seemed to have something to build around. Carmelo Anthony can stay for support or be used as a nice trade chip.

So of course New York went out and brought in overpriced veterans to fill out the roster. Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah cost a pretty penny this offseason as the Knicks try to cash in and move forward, perhaps faster than they should.

The new additions will likely limit Porzingis’ touches some. The hope is he can still improve. And who knows if the team will still run the triangle.

The Knicks again seem to be banking on doing something in the short term. this gambit typically has not worked well for the franchise.

Next: Offense anyone?
