The Eastern Conference is a mess (it’s not just the Orlando Magic)
Chicago Bulls
What is left in the tank for veteran newcomers?
The Chicago Bulls have undergone a major transformation. Yet, they still seem unable to let go of the past and scratch everything. They continue to save what they have.
They dropped coach Tom Thibodeau last season and brought in the relatively inexperienced Fred Hoiberg. Hoiberg was working to find his way, but there were hiccups. The Bulls missed the playoffs and left a lot of questions about their roster.
The Bulls answered them by dealing away Derrick Rose and bringing back Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. Both Wade and Rondo still have something to give. Just how much is the question. And then whether they can spread the floor enough for Jimmy Butler.
Wade still has flashes (pun intended) of his Hall of Fame career. This Bulls team should be able to ride their wave to something. But it will not be much more than a playoff appearance. That is unless one of their many young players like Bobby Portis is truly ready to step up.
The team is talented but fit remains an issue without a strong 3-point shooter among their backcourt.
