Final Take

Beasley might very well be one of the better shooters in the Draft. As far as the Orlando Magic are concerned, that fits a need. Especially if they feel Evan Fournier is going to be beyond their price range. The team needs shooting anyway, so he helps fill that need.

Beasley is a scorer and seems like he would be a perfect fit for any team coming off the bench. He might very well be one of the big sleepers in this Draft. The Magic have shown interest, bringing him to town for an interview.

Adding to the mystery, perhaps, is Beasley’s surgery to repair a stress fracture. No one has seen the former Florida State player on a basketball court since then. It is not exactly clear when he will be available to play. And that certainly hurts his stock.

Taking Beasley at 11 would be a big reach. His scoring ability is still very unproven and while his shot would be useful, it could be redundant on a roster full of 2-guards already.

Beasley has to get drafted by a team that is not expecting him to create much and where he can come off the bench. The Magic would not be a bad spot if not for the Fournier question hanging around.

It will be interesting to see whether his skills can translate and he can continue to develop. If he were healthy and able to workout for teams, it seems like he would be one of the big risers and sleepers for the first round. As it is, he remains a mystery.
