Orlando Magic’s top 10 games of the season
By Alex Horvath
Honorable mentions
April 8: vs. Miami Heat
After being going three years with just one victory over the Miami Heat, it felt great to finally get a win against the state rivals.
Although Victor Oladipo had to leave the game early in the third quarter, the Magic still managed to squeeze a victory out against the Heat in front of their home crowd. Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier led the scoring, dropping 29, and 28 a piece.
Dec. 23: vs. Houston Rockets
Another feel-good win, one to avenge the 1995 Magic team that lost to the Rockets in the Finals and one to avenge their fans, after losing their best player in franchise history to the Lakers, who went on to sign with the Rockets. It does not matter what team Dwight Howard is on, a game against him is a must watch. A win even better.
Nov. 11: vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Speaking of late-game heroics and Nikola Vucevic, he single handedly gave the game against the Lakers an honorable mention.
Victor Oladipo left the game early with a concussion, Evan Fournier, Elfird Payton and Tobias Harris struggled to get it going, leaving Vucevic to keep them in the game. Oh, and Shabazz Napier.
Yup.
They had nothing going on for them this game, then Nikola Vucevic hit a game winner.
Feb. 7: vs. Atlanta Hawks
There could not be two Hawks games in the top 10 list (you will see which one made the list), but this one deserves an honorable mention.
This game got away from the Magic, after losing a large lead late in the game, but they still kept their heads above water, and got a win with late-game heroics from none other than Nikola Vucevic, who hit a game winner, in the exact same fashion as the Laker game.
March 29: vs. Brooklyn Nets
Orlando’s largest margin of victory of the season, 34 points, came against a lowly Brooklyn team. This was the team Orlando needed to be all season long for their playoff hopes. They recorded 40 assists for the game, played stout defense, and scored points, more points even and more points.
With eight players scoring double digits, and a 61 percent field goal percentage, the Magic seemed unstoppable this game, and provided plenty of highlights for the day after.
And now we move onto the rankings.
