Deyonta Davis, Michigan State

If Denzel Valentine feels like the sure thing from the Michigan State roster, Deyonta Davis remains the biggest mystery.

The 6-foot-10 forward posted 7.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in about 18 minutes per game.

Again, Davis was another freshman who was a bit raw and had to find his way. He put in some big games and looked like he has NBA potential. But he still has a lot of work to do too. Consistency remains an issue for him, as it does for many freshmen entering the draft.

Davis has good athleticism and defensive instincts. He somewhat looks like Myles Turner did in college with his ability to protect the rim and change shots with a lanky frame. A full year in a real weight program is going to help him out tremendously.

His offensive game needs some work though. A lot of work. And he could still gain to improve on defense too in many ways. He played on raw athleticism last year. His upside though is undeniable with all the natural tools he has.

The question is what kind of a person is he? Is he someone that will continue working or is the NBA the final destination for him? Can he continue his seemingly upward trajectory?

Next: Orlando Magic must find NBA-ready prospect

There are no definitive answers. But if the Magic are going to consider taking such a risk on a raw prospect, they need to get in front of him and learn who he is as a person. This first step is a pretty big one.
